She cut her head open and while bloodied went to the neighbor and claimed that her husband stabbed her. In the meantime her husband was at work. I know this as fact because I called his office while these events were happening. My question is how should my friend now react to his wife after being picked up by the police only to be told 3 hours later that his wife confessed to falling down?

He might want to suggest that she give up the bottle and perhaps even suggest that she seek treatment to do so if her drinking is going to this length. If she wants to do something to help herself then he should support her as best as possible and if not then he would be wise to get out of this relationship as soon as possible because things will only get worse.

I agree...you should stay out of it. This is a really horrible situation and you don't want to get involved.

I don't understand why people are crazy like this. I know a couple who were fighting in the car on the way home from a party. She was hitting him and trying to distract him while driving so he held her arm and ask her to get out of the car. She did and he drove down the street to wait for her at home. An hour later, she showed up with the police and he was arrested for abuse. She told them he grabbed her and pushed her out of the car. Never mind the fact that she almost caused him to crash the car because of her hitting him and covering his eyes so he would pay attention to her. He's in the military and wanted to be a police officer. Now he has that arrest on his record for 3 years and has no chance of getting a job. HOW STUPID!!! His wife's crazy and it sounds like your friend's is too.

She was drunk so its unlikely the police will take much notice of what she said.

Whatever the case, its not your problem. Be a friend, shoulder to cry on, whatever but its really not your problem.

Husbands and wives can screw each other up badly. Get between them though and you are mincemeat.

Tell your friend to get a good attorney and let the attorney handle it. Time for you to step away. What will happen is a retraining order will be filed. She can't go back to the place of residence and divorce papers should be filed.

That maybe his wife has a drinking problem and she needs to get treatment. That is pretty serious, to have your spouse falsely accuse you of something like that when they are drunk. Either she needs to get help or if it were me, that would be strike 1.

It sounds to me like his wife has a serious drinking problem. I would start by addressing this, and getting her to stop drinking. If she is not willing to address the issue, there really isn't much to do other than just tolerating it.

Sounds like she is crazy! I would not stay with her because if she would do something like that then she will do other things just as bad or worse and he is only going to get caught in the middle. He is going to end up with jail time if he stays with her.

1. Sign her into a mental hospital.
2. Leaver her there
3. Get a divorce

She must have been really angry at him to have taken such extreme measures. He needs to get away from this woman before she does something like this again and he may not have an alibi next time.
