Developing cancer is a matter of genetic predisposition, say, if you have a background of cancer in your family, there is that genetic disposition in you. Now, it doesn't mean you will develop it... if you don't smoke, if you have your paps done, and you live a healthy life... you might never develop it.

You don't catch it. It is because of the development of abnormal cells. Yes, some things can contribute to cancer, like smoking.
