Stretch your split a lot - that will help with the 180 degree factor. Other than that, I always tell my students to focus on using their back leg to push against the floor as they jump for a higher jump (has to do with your plie too). Your front leg will help lift you up as you brush it forward, but really the back leg is the one doing most of the work.

First off point your toes. This is curcial; though it doesn't seem like it, but it makes a big difference. Also make sure that your arms are in the proper position; dont let them fall or get sloppy. Concentrate on jumping up and out. Use your plie then spring; you will get more air that way. Make sure both of your legs are straight when you go into the jete. Lastly... to get your jete looking awesome stretch your splits the more you stretch the higher your jete can be.

The secret to grand jete is to already have the strength and flexibility in your legs to get full extension front, side and back, with proper position. From there it is just a matter of coordinating it. generally a running start helps to further extension, while a standing jump will strengthen control. Like all dance practice is what makes it all possible.

i do not understand why that one chick thinks you're speaking about plies yet any way... in case you do not have your splits artwork on that, in case you do have your splits artwork on your over splits (using a e book or something below your the front foot.) in the different case, attempt to imagine of jumping instantly UP no longer ahead. the better your leap is the more effective time you should open you legs and get them in position. Splits and jumping are going to help a lot.

When you're jumping think of doing the spilts in the air inside of leaping "over" something. Remember to keep your feet pointed and knees straight.

My teachers say to really work your plie before you jump. This will give you some height, and allow you to extend your legs at the right point.

a nice upper body posture usually takes the attention away from the lower body's (unglam) action.

generally I try to tell myself to lift e front thigh first and pretend im jumping over a drain.

hahaha

practice splits!!!!! most important. also do excercises to improve the strength of your thighs. make sure your back leg is as straight as possible as well as the front while you're in the air.

use your arms and face. If you have graceful arms and correct expressioin in your face and upper body, your feet don't matter as much!
