How long should I give my four month old to finish her bottle? Typically she will drink a few ounces then she will stop. We burp her but then she refuses to drink anymore and will just play with the nipple and spit any formula in her mouth out. Should I wait about 1/2 hour then try some more or just let her drink what she wants when she wants?

The formula is good for one hour. So give her up to an hour to drink it.

Let bub eat what she wants when she wants. Throw any un-eaten formula away after an hour of it being made though. Maybe warm it up after you burp her and see if she'll take it then. My baby does the same thing. I make her 2 oz. at a time cuz I never know how much she is going to want. If I feel she is hugary after the 2 oz. I make more. Sometimes she stops eating after the 2 and I wait like an hour because I will notice her putting her hands in her mouth. Then she'll usually eat 2 more. It's like that all day long for me and she is 3 months old.

I go through the same thing with my 5 month old son!!It takes my son 10 to 20 minutes depending on how much he take, but i also have issues with my bottles,i use regular gerber bottles with a month medium flow nipple and it traps the air in there so i have to keep taking it out of his mouth to release it,also having issues trying to find another that he will take which i have had no luck.He will take one to 2 maybe 3 oz then spits out the rest and turns his head and would rather play or bounce in his chair gigglig!!Drives me bonkers cuz i know he should eat more!My doc has him on Zantac for 3 days now thinking it is silent acid reflux,he does not spit up.

IF she's only drinking a few ounces at a feeding, before refusing to drink more, then thats how much you need to be feeding her.

Generally around 4 ounces every 2-4 hours is pretty normal.

She's probably full. Is she really gassy? If not, let her continue to eat without stopping to burp her. Try it out, see if that helps. I would never let a bottle sit more than one hour though. Especially if you live in a warmer climate.
