It depends on where you will be in Germany, although they have an excellent train system, so getting all over the country, even all over Europe by train in two weeks is really easy.

You will be there for Karnival (the German Mardi Gras), which is a blast there, Koln (Cologne) has a huge celebration. It is also a really cool city with an amazing catherdral and a chocolate museum.

Berlin is an interesting city if you are interested in cold war history.

In February, ski season is in full swing, head down south to the Garmish area for some awesome skiing. Garmish is beautiful and very quaint.

A castle tour down the Rhine river is an inexpenisive way to see some beautiful sights. There are castles everywhere, Neuschwanstein is a neat one you can tour.

I imagine you'll be at a military base for your 2 weeks, check with their Services people and ITT, they can give you a ton of ideas to give you a great two weeks! Enjoy!

Hey, I'm a retired soldier who spent two tours in Germany. Regardless of how you arrive there, the weekend beginning with Feb 16 through Feb20 are the high days of Karneval or Mardi Gras. My favorite cities for parades and festivals were Mainz and Munich. Mainz has a huge parade through the city, while Munich has a wild four day party throughout the Fussganger Zone (the pedestrian shopping area). If you like beer Munich, Stuttgart or Cologne are the places to be. Munich has 8 breweries alone plus all of the other breweries in Bavaria.

Lastly, Check out the Armed Forces Recreation center on the Chiemsee in Bavaria. It is located about 45 minutes to the east of Munich by the city of Rosenheim. This AFRC offers tours throughout Bavaria, has information on activities in other parts of Germany, and even offers week-long ski classes. the best part about this is it's only for US Military personnel. There is also a second AFRC in Garmisch down by the Austrian Border. the same information applies Check-out afrc.com and see what you come up with.

If you're old enough, rent a car(mercedes) and take it out on the autobahn to drive (at least once in your life ) at 240 kilometers per hour (about 160 MPH). It's a great feeling.

I am stationed in Germany. I have been here for over 5 years and really know my way around. More than likely, you will either fly into Rammstein Air Base or Frankfurt. Rammstein Air Base is in SW Germany and Frankfurt is more south-central. There are things to do and see in both areas. As far as where to go, this depends on your interests. Are you looking for historical sites? Architectural sites? Music clubs? Please contact me and I can give you all of the info you need.

You're asking me if you should go to Alask and be used? It's up to you, but I think you've answered your own question by your question's description! (Listen to yourself) Go to Germany alone. You'll have your self-respect. If the Alaskan girl really likes you, she'd dump the fiance. The truth is hard to swallow, but none-the-less, much easier to live with. Call her and ask if she's leaving him for good. If she does, then she could meet you in Germany, for GOOD. The ONLY thing you get out of the Alaskan experience is: being used = (sad, at best). The FIRST thing you get out of Germany = self respect.

Find a bar and get drunk.

If you want the cheapest in German beer, buy cases from hardware stores.
