If you are over 20 weeks into your pregnancy and your are finding that the itching is especially severe on your hands and soles of your feet, then get medical attention immediately. This is a sign of a condition called Obstetric Cholestasis and is very serious. Hopefully this will not be the case for you.

Otherwise, the itching around your belly and legs is totally normal and due to water retention and your skin stretching.

In the 3rd trimester, itching can be experienced as the skin stretches. It's normally not a problem but severe itching, particularly on the hands and feet can indicate a serious condition.

If you are earlier in pregnancy, it might just be caused by your skin being more sensitive.

My wife itched horribly, to the point where she would get woke up by scratching herself in her sleep. Gold bond lotion seemed to help her a great deal. You can call your Doc.s nurse and find out if there is any other things you can use or take, since they are always changing their views on what a preggo should take and not take and the nurse will also tell you what to look for/at if there is any concern. I work at a Docs office and reassure you that it is no problem to call as much as you need to that's what we are here for.

It is quite a normal side effect of pregnancy unfortunately however if you get excessive itchiness on your hands and feet speak to your doctor straight away as this can be a symptom of a liver disorder.

Yeah this is normal, just your skin stretching. I had to get mousterized shower lotion, I got oil of olay. All though the doctors say that cream on your belly makes the heartbeat echo. I asked my doctor and she said that creams and stuff are your best friend when you are pregnant. Other than that try some non-fragranced oil. Good Luck

Yes but not as bad as you, for some reason I couldnt wear my wedding ring or other jewelary on my hands. My hands couldnt go in certain washing liquids or powders. Also my top half would get very warm and my bottom half very cold. As if the blood was trapped in my top half with the baby.
If concerned see you midwife. lol :-)

You should see your doctor. Itching in pregnancy can be caused by a problem with your liver.

a friend of mine had this problem, but sorry i can't remember what it called at the top of my head. go see your doctor, if its just stretching there's nothing he can do about that but if you are getting a rash like symptom he'll have something that is safe for you to take. if no rash, try always putting lotion on, it also helps reduce stretch marks!!! Congrats on the baby!!!
