my last period ended on 11/30/06. I havent had a period since. And I have taken 2 pregnancy test and they both came up negative. I took the last one at the beginning of Jan. The only thing I have experienced is weird stomach feelings and I can smell alot better. I wrote it off as the cold I recently had. When I went onto Web MD it said that I could have missed my ovulation but thats only expected to let a person skip one cycle and so far Ive missed two. (And) when I spoke to my clinic they said they don't do blood pregnancy tests which is something I would prefer over a 3rd urine test. I feel fine overall. Has anyone went through this, also? After two negative urine test did you still wind up pregnant? Do you prefer a blood pregnancy test over urine?

➔ Pregnancy
my period is a 21 day cycle and I haven't been under much stress. All of these personal stories are so touching. I figured it would be pregnancy but maybe it's something else. anyway , I scheduled a appointment with my OB to see whats going on. If I am, I'll be ok, and if I'm not, I'll still be ok :)

Pregnancy Test Accuracy
The accuracy of pregnancy tests has improved over the years. Both urine and blood pregnancy tests are surprisingly accurate – in fact, they claim to produce results that are 97% to 99% accurate. Of course, mistakes can happen and it accuracy often depends on how the test was performed.
Home Pregnancy Tests
Home pregnancy tests are usually about 97% accurate, but this varies from brand to brand. In order to get the most accurate results, it is a good idea to wait for about a week after your period is due before testing. This allows more hCG to build up in your urine, which will allow for a more accurate test. Some urine tests can be used on the first day that your period is due, however, it is unlikely that you will achieve that 97% accuracy rate if you test so early. It is best to perform a urine test in the morning, before you drink or eat. This will allow for a buildup of any hCG in your urine.
Clinic Tests
Blood tests performed at your clinic have a 99% accuracy rate and can detect pregnancy earlier than most urine tests. Blood tests can be performed 7 days after you ovulate (which is about a week before your period is due) and still provide accurate results. Sometimes, lab oversights can affect the accuracy of results, however this is rare.
False Results
It is possible to receive false results, both positive and negative, from your urine or blood pregnancy test.
If you get a false positive from a home pregnancy test, it is usually the result of faulty test strips. Most home pregnancy tests now have an indicator that shows whether or not the test is working correctly. If you leave your pregnancy test too long before checking it, this can also cause a false positive. Eventually, the urine will soak through the test, exposing the chemical strip that indicates pregnancy. Be sure to follow the instructions as closely as possible.
Both blood and urine tests can also produce false positives if you are taking a drug that contains hCG. These drugs are commonly used in fertility treatments, so ask your health care provider about whether your medications could affect pregnancy test results.
False negative pregnancy tests are also possible and typically occur with early pregnancy tests. If you test too early you may not have enough hCG in your urine or blood to indicate pregnancy. It is important to repeat your pregnancy test again a few days later, even if you test negative.

I haven't experienced myself but one of my girlfriends did with her third child. She had all the symptoms but all urine tests came up negative. She finally decided to go to her OB who did a blood test which came back positive. They did an ultrasound and she was already 4 months pregnant. She was curious and went home and took another urine test...still negative. Find somebody who does do the blood tests and go from there.

Normally, the urine tests are pretty accurate. But it's strange for you to have missed two periods. If you're normally very regular in your cycle, you should make an appointment with your OB. There is a physical examination that can be done to check for pregnancy. There is also other factors that can cause missed periods and they might be able to pinpoint one that is affecting you.

To be completely honest, I skipped 4 before, with negative pregnancy test results. Even the blood tests were negative. Turns out, my missed cycles were due to a complicated ovarian cyst that almost needed surgery. Best to have your doctor do a follow up and possibly an ultrasound. That is how my problem was finally detected. Good luck to you.

well i missed my period last month and i wasn't pregnant it came this month. sometimes those home pregnancy test doesn't work especially if your pregnant and the baby isn't in the right place i forgot what its called but it's when the baby is outside the tubes then the only way they know is if you get a sonogram. i suggest you go to your obgyn cause that might be the case. of your cycle can be changing. it is natural for a woman to get there period for 28 days straight and then dont have it for a couple of months. you really need to get checked out.

A Dr's urine test is basically the same as one we buy at any store. They will tell you that themselves. Go get you a blood test.

i had this problem!!! .. i wansnt pregnant and the only reason that i was so late was because of the stress that i was having thinking i was pregnant!.. and it sounds silly but thats what it was.. i know that now because i was told that if i just relaxed and took time for myself.. stopped worrying and think positive.. and it does take a good few days but you should see you period arrive soon after.. i found a great technique was to breath slowly before sleeping. good luck :)
