My office printer is out of the cyan ink. I have ordered a new cartridge, but it will not arrive until later today. I need to print now! I tried changing the settings under Properties to Greyscale, but the orange error light is still lit on the printer's moniter. How can I over ride that? Thanks.

Wanna save a little money of toner? Try this if you haven't already:

From the manual: page 94 of the User Guide.

Configuration
Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer’s control panel menu.
1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System setup and press (SELECT).
2. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Print quality and press (SELECT).
3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press (SELECT).
4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override out and press (SELECT).
5. Press (SELECT).

HP is concerned that each page printed out on the printer is superiour. In order to do that, the machines are set to need a replacement before the printer actually runs out of toner (so that you don't start getting bad prints). However, at the point of needing replacement cartridges, there is usually a bit of toner left for more prints. Try this override, and you should have enough toner to last a couple more days. Either way, it'll save you money in the future!

Take out the Cyan Cartridge and give it a little shack around put it back in and see how that goes this often works for the massive printer at my church as i sometimes have to replace them but to get a little more out is take it out shake it a bit and put it back in.

These models will not allow that option. You need the Cyan before you can print. So far, on these models that I service, I can't bypass the system by a Greyscale print... its acting almost like a Canon...

Shake the toner catridge to spread the remaining toner evenly in the hopper portion of the cartridge. Just a few light shakes will work.
