The hotels would get really run down and they'd probably have problems staffing them. It might be easier to put a phone booth on every island so people can call for help and maybe a few armchairs for people to sit in while they wait.

well i was thinking, just because its a desert island, doesn't mean people aren't there aswell.
maybe this saying has come from desert*ed* and laziness has stopped people from typing the last 2 letters?

the term desert means deserted ,so it might be a bit lame if you were the only guest and staff
