because all that gets boring!
having kids is challenging and hard work, but it gives your life so much more of a purpose
i never knew why i lived until i had my son, now i feel like i have a reason to get up!
he makes me so happy - his first smile, first steps, first words , first tooth, so so special!
You can still do things when you are a parent, but in moderation! :)

It depends on what you want out of life. If the material side of things is important to you then continue with the expensive holidays, big car etc. But most people reach an age when they feel that this just isn't enough and feel there is something missing from their lives. There is no right or wrong answer to this. It depends on the individual.

It's understandable that people should feel an innate need to have children given that all organisms spend much of their lifecycle keeping their species alive. In this day and age we've evolved into something more. We have created conditions in which we might not feel it is necessary. Interestingly enough a society does need to have about 2 children per couple in order to sustain itself properly. Th birthrate in Japan has dropped well below this and they are worried about the effect it will have on the economy. I do get a sort of self importance from people who have had children though and that is what irritates me. People shouting at me because I've tripped over their baby's pram that thay shoved in my path for example.

As men, I don't think we realize that having sex was intended to make babies. I mean, look around, how many species do it for fun? And, as men, we are constantly looking for fun.
And then there is that one - the one you can't imagine being without - or if you even have a car or the fact that the refrigerator is on its last leg - the one that (as the women call it) fits. Then you will know the obsession.
I'd still be carefull - with no car it will be hell carrying the kid and the groceries.

It is embedding in the human nature from millions of years of evolution. everything, every animal, plant, human has a innate desire to procreate. Only because we can be educated and obtain knowledge, we can over come this desire with the power to understand the consequences of our actions... good luck to all the women out there.

i kno what ur saying.
i dnt understand those women who will go all out and do anything to have a baby. whats all that about?
i think kids are a waste of money and these days they dnt even look after you when ur old, so im my opinion its better to put all that money away and retire to a flash nursing home where you will be looked after.
and as a woman, all that pain you have to go through...

Can't fault you on those points, but to answer what's so good about kids, well you can throw stones at them - that's quite good fun, as is driving at them and running them over, introducing them to paedophiles and beating them up on the top deck of the bus.
Wouldn't actually want one of my own though.

Its in our genes. Like all animals we are pre-programmed to procreate so we can live forever through our offspring (and their offspring etc)
