How do I prevent websites from playing music?

Some sites play music as soon as I surf to them in Firefox. How do I stop them?

Most sites do it with Java or Shockwave/Flash.

You could download "Adblock" an extension for FIrefox and us ut ti identify the object that is playing the music and block it. It works quit well for me.

I think most websites give you the option of turning music off. you just have to look around on the homepage.
