Sex generally refers to the physical nature of the intimacy. To have sex usually means to be about satisfying myself. It is in a way selfish. Sex starts with a physical erection and ends with an ejaculation. The more we have sex, the lesser we care about it. And you can potentially have sex with anyone that arouses you.

Making love is more the emotional connection in intimacy. It is kinda selfless in that while making love our focus is our partner's satisfaction. The more she's satisfied the greater I feel the same way. The more we make love, it actually brings two people closer together and the more they want to make love to each other. And I'll only be able to make love to someone I have an emotional, mental connection with ~ rather than just a physical one.

If there is a difference between them then, `making love` is not `having sex`.
So if your friend is `having sex` with someone else should make you feel happy for him as long as is `making love` to you,
and i dont think you accept that!
So there is no diferrence at all, just an unjustified efort to place the natural intercourse in a higher/noble state than nature intendeed it to be.
Intercourse is better when you love somebody but is still sex
Intercourse can be tender but is still sex
Intercourse can be dirty and many loving couples enjoy `making love` this way

Anyone can have sex without emotion and/or feelings. Or a lot of young people choose to become sexually active as a way of trying to show affection to people they think will be with them forever and or as a sign of acting grown up. A lot of adults choose to have sex as a recreational sport or have been hurt in other relationships and so want nothing more then this from their partners. But to make love to a person you become totally involved with that person and feel safe at that moment. Also rape is sex but certainly not love making.

I have had people tell Me that their is no difference to them. I think there is. For Me, making love is more than just the act of intercourse. Its what leads up to it, the passion, the foreplay, the deep emotion. But sometimes, when the hormone gods are all aligned, I love a romp, that is just raw emotion. It didn't take the cuddling, or romance to lead up to it, its just there, and you want it then and you want it now.

Making love is more about the intimacy then the physical contact. Making love is emotional. Sex is purely physical.
