Some sites download very quickly - some take bl%$y ages.

I disabled firewalls etc.. but still some fast some slow

any ideas good people? - wireless broadband user

Some sites, such as Yahoo, are on huge servers and download fast. Others may share space with many other sites on a single server and will be slow.

It's probably nothing on your end. The speed of a particular site depends on many variables. These would include the number of people accessing the site at that time, the quality of hardware it uses, the number of "hops" the data takes before reaching you, and how busy the server is that you are connected to locally.

ok so u are wireless. let me ask you this, are in the same spot when you get slow websites as you are with fast? if you are too far away from your wireless router, it could go slow. other question, are the websites that go slow have a lot of pics and other things? those take a while to load. make sure you scan your pc for viruses and such. hope this helps!

well it does not take a lot of thinking about does it,,,,

the server your downloading from could be slow for many reasons and you can only download as fast as the server will allow you, to

and if your using limewire it could be that there are millions using it, all at the same time

I would not disable windows firewalls unless you have a good anti-virus system and use their firewall.Are you sure you are not the victim of a browser re-director.
