It has been speculated that this song could be about Matt Bellamy's alleged addiction to porn, with a recurring theme of falseness and cleansing throughout. It could also be about his love for his electric guitar, and how he only has to plug it in and play, for all his critics to be proven wrong (crucifies my enemies). Bizarrely, it could be about genetically engineering puppies to remain young and live forever, as Matt Bellamy has stated jovially in a magazine interview.

It's really hard to interpret Muse lyrics - they could mean anything! :p

Matt did say this about Plug in Baby, though:
"Again, that's about the path evolution can take like 'New Born.' There's the good side and the bad side; abandoning all individually, becoming a collective whole via cables, and genetically engineering bodies that can exist out in space, or the loss of individualism."

I'm sure there's another interview as well where Matt talks about the song, but I can't seem to find it in all the magazines I have! If I do, I'll post it on here. :)

I think he is actually singing about his guitar, as a musician his guitar would of course be his baby because he loves music and he loves playing his guitar.

He is singing about his guitar apparently. I must admit that I don't really know the full story, but that is what the song's about. But where's that riff from? It's a famous classical piece but I can never put my finger on which one!!
