He, for one, saw the light. And he, for one, made an effort with all the incredible advantages he was provided with. And, he, for one, is a Man!

In a round about way that might be logical to say.

But white society is what it is because those ancestors were here too. Somebody had to do the work, which made the white immigrants rich.

yea, he was just grateful that he didn't have to grow with all that poverty in Africa. It's realistic. I'd have said the same thing too.
