No, but addressing the threat is better than another embassy being blown up or worse. I wish the phrase war on terror was not used because like the war on drugs it will not be winnable only controlled.

Sure.
We have terrorists for 3 main reasons:
-- people feel they have been wronged for some reason
-- they feel they have no way to address those wrongs through "normal" channels (courts, governments)
-- they resort to violence as their only means of addressing their feelings of being wronged

There are, of course, other reasons (greed, religious fervor, etc.) but those all feed into the 3 above.

So, to stop terrorism, we need to:
-- get powerful governments and people to stop abusing people's rights, killing innocents, etc.
-- establish valid, workable legal solutions for addressing wrongs throughout the world
-- educate people worldwide so they know what options they have *legally* to bring their complaints to a forum that can hear and address them

Yeah, I know, it all sounds a bit too easy...but it is possible. Palestinians resort to terrorism because they feel wronged by Israel (and by all of the countries that support Israel) -- their land was taken, they were herded into small confined areas, they have little or no rights, and none of the major power countries seem to care. Al Queda attacks worldwide because of things they feel have been done to Arabs and Muslims throughout the world by the major powers, and they feel they have no way to get "justice" other than terrorism. I'm not agreeing with their perceived wrongs OR their methods for seeking justice, I'm just stating what they think. Most terrorism would cease if people felt they could get justice peacefully and legally -- and right now they don't feel they can.
Of course, even if we solve *that* problem, there will still be nutcases who blow themselves up because they're mentally ill or something...but that would be the exception rather than the rule :)

It's complex, it will take a long time...but it's doable :)

can we get rid of terrorism and thoroughly get rid of crime? Agree "We ought to settle for the reality that it is impractical to anticipate that terrorism could be eradicated from now on than we can anticipate to get rid of crime." Coddswallop. Humankind exchange into so violent as quickly as upon a time that somebody had to coach us, "Thou shalt not kill" - "Huh? Why not? He touched my charriot." we've come a protracted way considering that then. better than one hundred years in the past, enemies could loose extensive chunks of their land in the event that they lost a conflict (Texas, New Mexico, California have been all area of Mexico in the previous the Alamo). yet interior the final century, winner help the loosers exchange into worldwide exporters interior some years (eg. how many "Made in Japan" issues do you have around you?) we are studying greater approximately different cultures, languages, religions and customs. it is thru information one yet another and studying to co-exist that terrorism, or maybe crime, can end. as long as we see others as a "Them" the "Us" won't be able to have faith, we can consistently have "us vs them" battles.

i truly do not think so. think of this-there are so many people/cultures/religions in this world, and as long as there is individualism (hooray for each of us being different after all!) there will unfortunately be struggles of power and therefore terrorism. Its sad but its the nature of the human race...

Terrorism cannot be completely eliminated because this human beings species has the evil qualities like HATRED, JEALOUSY, SELFISHNESS, EGOISM, and INTOLERANCE. So there is fault with species itself. If a new species is created on earth without evil qualities like HATRED, JEALOUSY then there wont be terrorism. PRACTICALLY IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ELIMINATE THE EVIL QUALITIES LIKE HATRED AND JEALOUSY FROM HUMAN MINDS
