Why do these stations not play videos hardly ever anymore. How can we get a station that will just play videos. Sometimes they even air movies that have nothing to do with music....why is that?
Please shed some light on this for me.

I agree with you but like some others said its all about the money. I loved the days when it was truly all videos and music related programming. I even remember when they had "VJ"s and it was all about music.. Nopw its all abut money. WTH does My Super Sweet 16 or I Love New York have to do with music? Its a shame..

I think that, like a lot of other networks out there, MTV and VH1 started out as one thing and completely changed formats, yet kept their names for brand recognition and sentimental reasons. Also, I do think that they still have a little bit to do with music. For instance, VH1 has music videos early in the morning still, and they do the top 20 countdown every week, so that is still music-oriented. MTV still has TRL, which is loosely based on music videos, even though you get to see about a 16th of a second of each video clip, with a bunch of shouting and "whoooooo"-ing over the music. Also, both networks still air specials and series pertaining to music artists (VHI Behind the Music, Rock Docs, MTV Video Music Awards, etc.) so I think they still are music-oriented in nature. If you want nothing but videos, like the good old days on MTV, you should check out MTV2 and VH1 Classic. These networks are obviously related to MTV and VH1 and play music videos almost exclusively.

Nope. You have to get the MTV and VH1 sister channels on digital cable or sattelite. MUCH Music from Canada is the best. 24 hours of videos from around the world in all kinds of different genres. I believe direct tv shows MUCH.

Its all about the money. They make more if the play the shows than the videos. I haven't watched ether one in years because of this. Dish network has a few good one's.
