my fiance reasures me its probable due to stress as i worry and i have exams. over christmas i went from 8.9 to 8.3 st. + i have been under alot of preasure from parents so i get very overwhelmed and depressed, but i have restrained from self harming this year as i know there is no point. please help i know im harming myself with worry xx ty fei

Yes worrying is very self destructive. Your period could be late because of stress. Stress plays a major factor in our monthly cycles. I was always a worrier too. But finally I just made my mind up I did not want to live my life that way, so I read everything I could about relaxation techniques and how to keep myself busy, other things I could be doing instead of worrying, and how to stop the vicious cycle. As I started applying these techniques to my life it made a very positive change in my life.I still find that I get stressed at certain times but who doesn't? You are too young too worry, live your life and have fun. xoxoxo

Okay- two things...

One...even though stress is normal when worried about grades, boyfriends, etc...yours seems to be excess. I am in my late 20's and it felt as though the years have flown by. I was a lot like you in that I stressed over everything at your age and I really regret it because I didnt stop to enjoy myself. If you can't stop worrying, I would suggest that you go talk to someone- your doctor, a councelor, a therapist, etc. You will deteriorate and soon have a melt down if you keep going at this rate. You can also get seriously ill as stress weakens your immune system- I got cancer....seriously! Just enjoy the time you have- grades are great but they are not as serious as your health.

Two- stress will stop you from getting your period. This also happened to me....a lot. If your periods are irregular you can see a doctor about it and they can put you on the pill for "medical reasons" which will aslo stop you from having to use the the morning after pill. My suggestion is, try to control the stress- or get help with that...take a test (I AM SURE IT IS NEGATIVE IF YOU ARE THAT CAREFUL) But just seeing the negative test will at least stop you from worrying about that.
Good Luck! And remember to smile and laugh....until you believe there is a reason to do it!!.

you need to first of all just calm down!
at your time of life you should be enjoying yourself not stressing
ok you may be stressed bout exams but dont let your parents put you under preasure you can always resit if you fail it is no big deal at 16 you have not lived so you dont need to worry
i dont think you should have tied yourself down to being engaged at your age you have the rest of your life to do this , but if your happy then i suppose that is what matters, when i was 16 all i worried about was what people thought i am now 25 an have realised that it is only true friends and family that matter the rest arent worth it and certainly no worth stressing about

Your fiancee is right stress can cause you to be late with your period and so can lack of sleep
if you are worried take a home pregnancy test buy one in tesco or something with other items if you are too embaraced!

At your age your body has only started its menstural cycle about 3 years so it does take time to calm down

Please dont stress out anymore
you can also speak to your doctor in confidence or your local family planning clinic
Good luck

Hey just calm down. You are probably just worrying too much. I am getting ready to turn 22 and have never had a regular period nor has it ever come on time. I have been on so many different birth controls trying to regulate my period and worked with my gyno and still nothing works. Go get yourself an at home pregnancy test and take it with your best friend or your mom if you feel comfortable. This will give you an answer to wether or not you are pregnant. Then I would suggest looking up ways to help you releave stress. Trust me, everything you have said reminds me of myself. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me I would be happy to answer any questions. Godd luck sweety!

Take a test, first- if you haven't already.

Sounds like you are really going through a stressfull time. Stress can delay ovulation, which will delay your period.

To sleep better, try writing down everything that's bothering you before you go to bed. This might sound silly, but I also say "Let "Tomorrow's Renee" worry about that one" to further distance myself from the situation. Just do what you can do, then stop.

Just try to relax some and know that you are in the suckiest period of your life right now. I wouldn't go back to my teens for anything.

Good luck.

You're 15 and engaged? Wow.

My advice:
1) Get birth control -- if you are sexually active, you NEED birth control. You can get it for as low as $10/month. Just get it. If you are old enough to have sex, you're old enough to use the pill.

2) ALWAYS depand a condom. ALWAYS. Especially if you aren't on the pill, on your period, or worried, just use a condom.

About the stress:

You need to find something to get your mind off stress. While you have reason to worry, you need to find ways to get your mind off what's bothering you.

For me I build a house in my head. I'm big into designing, so I design as well.

Also don't let the little stuff bother you as much. It will be tough, but you can work at it.

It is normal for stress to cause you period to be sparadic at times. However, if you think you are pregnant, you can get a test at the drug store. They are able to detect if you are pregnant from about two weeks. try this first, and if it comes out positive, then figure out your options from that point. Please stop stressing until you have taken the test, as stress is not good for you at all, especially if you are pregnant.

STOP DON'T PANIC

Get a test, and get on the pill as well.

You don't need to post a question over and over again, no matter how stressed you are.

See your doctor and tell him all this and he will refer you to a psychiatrist. I should do this soon as you could be reaching a crisis point.
