amniotic fluid has nothing to do with oxygen...you breathe air and oxygen goes through your blood and sends to the baby through the umbilicus

She gets oxygen through the umbilical cord. It carries blood cells, which carry the oxygen directly to the baby. The baby won't use her lungs until she is born.

they get everything through the umbilical cord from you. the fluid is just to keep them protected and safe while they are in the womb.

umbilical chord.
it was kind of funny b/c when i was delivering my son and he was stuck in the birth canal (the top of his head was poking out, but that was it) i suddenly got worried b/c i was afraid he couldn't breathe!
then, the doctor reminded me that he was still hooked up to me, so he was fine. i was like "oh, yeah, you're right!"
you think wierd stuf when you give birth!
