It is important for each of us to reach out to our fellow man and not to rely on the governments of the world to do it for us. 1) because of the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you), and 2) because we as individuals can do it better and more efficiently than bloated government bureaucracies can.

Charity teaches us to give of ourselves for others. It doesn't matter if you send money to an organization or go serve food at a mission, any of that brings out the best in you. Helping others brings out the best in us and shows us that we should be thankful for what we have. Even donating your winter jackets by taking them to a local mission, driving an elderly person around, working a suicide hotline number, or being there for your friends or family, all of that counts and means a lot.
Charity teaches us to help each other, neighbors and families. We learn to support one another without having to rely on government substidies.

It is more blessed to give than to receive.
It is good for producing a health outlook on life to consider the needs of others less fortunate than oneself or to promote the general welfare of society (charities can have very varied aims).
There are tax advantages.
If it were not for the charitable activities of others in the past society would be very different from the society we live in now. We owe a duty to future generations to promote the good causes which will continue to shape our society.

If it a charity that you've faith in then provide in case you could. This yer for Christmas I despatched all my relations a dvd about the remedy of babies in third international u . s . a .'s. I also despatched a word that all of us have each little thing we choose so i'm giving those youthful babies the money i'd have despatched on yet another sweater. i understand it truly is a liget charity as my church helps sponsor it. First be counted on your charity and second, make positive its reputable.

It's human nature to want to help others. It gives you a nice warm feeling inside to help the less fortunate.
