I work for a small company so there are no corporate guidelines or anything...just what my boss (who is also the pres) says. I will clarify with him if needs be, but I'm curious what most working people think two weeks means. 10 days? or 14 days? I'm guessing probably 10, but that doesn't seem like very much...

Most often two weeks means 10 days. The weekends are included. Ten working days.

Two weeks vacation means that you will be paid for ten days. Some people split their vacations days, and it is not mandatory that you use all days together.

When I worked in payroll the company did not want me to be out continuous days. So I worked out a schedule that I would work Tuesdays - Fridays for ten weeks to use up my ten days. It was great, I had three days vacations each week. I made all of my doctor appointments, auto repairs, home service on Mondays.

It was in writing that you could not carry the days over to the next year.

ten days. It's 2 business weeks of vacation. There are 5 days in a standard business week. This is the typical amount of vacation in a new employee's benefit package. You usually don't get three weeks until after a certain amount of time has passed. That is usually either 3 years or 5 years in most organizations.

It has to be 14... It does not make sense to mention '2 weeks vacation' to mean 10 days as your vacation does not have to run for 2 weeks consecutively....
