in the bazooms with an energy blast from his ray gun, or whether she is knocking the ray gun out of his hand with a energy blast from her bazooms...?

LOL...

Usually, it is judged by size of the beam... If the smaller end of the ray is coming from the gun and the wider end is towards the heroine, then the gun is firing...

If she had a 'boob-ray', I cannot imagine it being a wide beam she is emitting and it narrowing down as it gets closer to the gun...

Its not the size that counts. And besides, you should be able to tell from the facial expression. If the girl has an O-face, then its a boobie ray. If the villain has a "take that, ha ha ha" face, then its a toss up. Cause he would like both.

The point of origin of the blast should have a "blossom" effect, whereas the impact area should have a "splash" effect.

Funny question. Which comic cover are you referring to?
