I encountered an openly lesbian neighbor in the hallway of my apartment. We had a conversation, in which she repeatedly glanced down at my chest. Now, I was wearing a VERY plain sweatshirt, and I checked in the mirror after this encounter -- no nipples were showing through the shirt. The only other thing I guess it could be is that I had on a very pretty, unique necklace. But her gaze seemed to be drifting constantly to the right of it, if you know what I mean. Is there anybody who can tell me if she was checking me out, or even possibly trying to send me a signal? I don't have any experience with this sort of thing, and I'm not an open lesbian, so she does not know where I stand, and I'm CONFUSED!

React the same way as if a guy that you aren't interested starts checking out your breasts.

I don't see why this is anymore confusing than any other time someone has glanced at your chest. Who knows what the heck other people are thinking and I'm not sure why you are obsessing with it. If it was some sort of secret lesbian 'signal', it's a pretty lame one. If the woman was winking at you than maybe I'd think she was trying to tell you something but glancing at your shirt/chest/necklace/whatever doesn't say much. You're reading into things and I don't see why you are worried about it unless you have some other issue with her. Sometimes I glance at a woman's chest for no reason at all without thinking about it just like I mindlessly glance down at a guys 'package' even if I find him repulsive. There's no way for anyone to know what I'm actually thinking.

I would assume maybe she was just nervous or uncomfortable...some people have the tendency to drift their eyes from one object to another. So maybe it was just a coincident that when you saw her eyes moving down you assumed since she's a lesbian she's starring at my breast. If she was straight would you have still questioned her behavior? Until you wear a shirt that openly shows your breast and you see her gazing at that I would ignore it. Maybe your necklace was pretty after all....
Give her chance...don't look at her as your creepy lesbian neighbor,

Good Luck

Possibly you were being checked out. Les and bi women can have an attraction to women's breasts. You said you are not an "open lesbian" ... so perhaps you were subconsciously looking for something as well and picked up her vibes. Trust your instincts. Personally, I don't think it was the necklace.

Hopefully she was looking at the necklace. As a woman myself, I try very hard not to make other women feel uncomfortable like that, 'cause I've had to tell more than a few guys "My eyes are up here." But women can be pigs sometimes, too.

I'm not gay, and I have a tendancy to look anywhere and everywhere. Granted, that most of the time my contacts are bothering me, but I stop my eyes for a quick second, whenever they sop bothering me. She could have been checkin you out, but then again, I don't know any gay people(les or guys) that would normally do that. They usually wait until you turn around to check you out lol.

Just toss this one out. Ignore it this time. But if she does it again, ask her about it. Don't be rude or snotty about it. Just ask her what she thinks about your sexuality. Then tell her where you stand. Don't be afraid to stand up to her. Gay people are not these brutish people who beat up on you just because you make a comment about their sexuality. They actually alot more laid back then people expect. Most of the time anyway.

yes, as others have said, women can be pigs as well. i know, I've been a pig a time or two....sorry....
we have a lady at work who likes to flaunt her better features...two of them being her large nipples...well one day as i was talking to her i could not stop myself from looking down every so often....she had on a very tight tank top .....well she is one of the few people who I'm out with at work (she is straight) and let me tell you, she got this $hit eating grin on her face as she asked me what i was looking at!

end of story....she may just be checking you out.....and remember women are vain creatures....we check each other out all the time...gay or straight....after all we must keep an eye out on the competition.

Well she might have just been checking you out. The same way men do. It could mean nothing, but maybe you should wait and see what happens next time you meet.

I wouldn't put to much thought into it because I think its human nature to look at womans breast. I know I do it at times, depending on the endowment of the woman and Im gay.

I think she was checking you out. Let her bring up the whole subject of your sexual preference. You might be mistaking being friendly for a come on.
