You are straining some muscles. Read a couple books, use a video, or best, get together with a good yoga teacher who can help you figure out which poses you either shouldn't do, or should do differently.
I use a DVD by Wai Lana--- The series is very beautiful, relaxing, and geared to many different levels. They have a website where you can buy them, plus other yoga supplies:
http://www.wailana.com/
Her stuff is also available is some stores.
Yoga should always be done gently, with no strain. If a pose is difficult for you, do not force it at all... but gradually, over time, work toward stretching those muscles until you can accomplish the asana. Never push yourself and always stop if there is any pain at all!
Don't give up. Just adjust what you do. Yoga is so healthy for your body and mind both. Good luck!
