Those annoying people who come on here and post half a book that they've copied and pasted from elsewhere don't help the system very much, and a day or two ago somebody asked for the names of all the American states so somebody typed them all out in a long list. Then somebody else copied them all and pasted them as a separate answer and then stone me if it didn't happen again - so apart from the waffle, we had over 150 lines taken up with rubbish that could have been obtained elsewhere without clogging yahoo up with duplicate answers just for a couple of points ! Like I said, no wonder it runs so slowly, particularly when America wakes up and comes on to the UK/Ireland site with ambiguous - if not actually dangerous - answers to GB-type questions !

Yes, like has been said, it's the volume of traffic that often slows things down. Plus, here, iffy BT overhead lines that twitch every time it rains. Not for nothing is it called the "World Wide Wait"

well it can depend on a number of different variables:

it could be because you have a slow pc, slow internet connection, downloading at a fast speed whilst trying to do somthing else.

it could be because your internet ADSL modem is a usb one, i found a big difference once i changed to a linksys router and so my pc then connects to it using a network cable. could be a very good idea

hope this helps
