This issue has a lot of controversy around it. When you consume Omega 3 oil what you what from it are the DHA and EPA fatty acids. Flax oil has ALA which needs to be converted by the body over to DHA and EPA. Fish oil has DHA and EPA already intact. The controversy is this. The pro fish oil side says that the body has a hard time converting ALA over to DHA and EPA. The pro flax oil side says that fish oil is contaminated with mercury and PCBS...you decide.

I'd go along with Gwen. But I'd add that yep fish is the richest source, but also contaminated by mercury and other metals, and thats why the government recommend a limited amount. Most of the fish oils in supplements have been 'cleaned' and the toxin levels reduced.
And just to let you know, tinned tuna has considerably less 3 than fresh

My fav is ground golden flax seed mixed in with yogurt, but you can put it in just about anything and still get both fiber and omega 3s.
