The question is flawed. Neither response is correct. A corpse would not be designated as a being a "fossil". A corpse is a corpse. Yet it is the physical remains of a once-living organism.
A, B and D are obviously false. C is explained above. E is false too. Remnants is not used for remains of a once-living organism, but for unsold stocks and the kind.
