Since Sunday I have had a dull pain in the right side of my lower stomach... I still have the pain today, but still dull.. I have an appointment with my doctor's office today. When I called the nurse asked if I was ovulating? So does ovulating cause pain? I've had this pain maybe twice before defintley once before, but never thought anything of it?? Could it be a cyst?? Has this ever happened to anyone??

The pill is supposed to stop pregnancy three ways: by stopping ovulation, thinning the lining of the uterus, and making the vaginal cavity more acidic (thereby less hospitable to sperm).

A dull pain on your right side might be gas, appendicitis, radiated discomfort from your gall bladder or a pulled muscle. OR it could be ovulation, though this is unlikely, if you took your pills exactly as you were supposed to.

And to answer your other question, some women experience a mild achy feeling when the ovum is released, but it usually only lasts a few hours to a day at most.

The pill, if taken correctly, should stop ovulation. If you're due to start your cycle soon you could be experiencing PMS. When I've had PMS I've had pains on one side before. Your appendix is also on your right side. If there is an infection it can be causing pain too. It's better to just go and see your doctor when you're having aches and pains that just won't stop.

I have the exact same thing in my left side! It comes every once in a while and it is always when I am ovulating. Our bodies do strange things.... but nothing to worry about. Go to your doctor today and I am sure that they will tell you the same thing. Just take some pain meds and enjoy the wonderful feelings we get to enjoy as women. :)

Sounds like it could be a cyst to me, but I have friends that are put on the pill to keep them from growing cyst. Sorry I'm not that helpful.
