I am 37 weeks pregnant and not dilated yet. I want to know what makes (helps) you dilated faster or what do I need to do to get my water to break? I really wanna get it over with the pregnancy by next week :) I am sooo tired and depressed seeing myself like this - It just seems to be dragging now and the time has just stopped.

Relax honey. Do something to pamper yourself. Get a massage or a manacure or get your hair done. Trust your body and your baby to know when it is time. A normal pregnancy is anywhere from 38 to 42 weeks.

You really don't want your water to break early in labor. It puts you "on the clock" to deliver. And the contractions are easier to handle with the cushion provided by an intact bag of water. Plus, doing anything to break it yourself would be dangerous and expose you and baby to possible infection.

Start having a lot of sex. Semen can ripen the cervix and orgasm can cause contractions which COULD turn into real labor. But nothing is going to work if your body and your baby aren't ready.

Walk a lot as well and practice squatting. These things can help bring baby down into your pelvis to put more pressure on your cervix. Squatting is also a wonderful position for labor and pushing.

ETA:
DO NOT use cohosh unless you are under the direct supervision of a caregiver who is VERY experienced with this method of induction.

DO NOT use castor oil as it can make you very uncomfortable with the runs and might not even work. It can also end up causing baby to pass his first BM in the womb, which can be dangerous if aspirated.

They say sex can cause you to go into labor. However, if you aren't dilated yet that won't help you at all. I never even dilated all the way and had a c-section. Perhaps you should talk to your doctor about methods for this, it's important not to put your baby in danger just because you're ready to have it already. Good luck with the last weeks and remember after you have the baby, you have another being to take care of, so be happy being pregnant and eat some cheesecake for me. :)

The reason they call it "labor" is that it is very hard work. If you try to squeeze a weeks worth of work into a day or two you are not going to make it more pleasant. The baby has gained about 8 pounds, and the necessary support another 8 (placenta, amniotic fluid, etc) 16 pounds is not all that much. Anything more than that is fat (at the risk of being blunt) I hope you are going to breastfeed, so you can give those calories to the baby. Now! How to make it easier. Hot, moist, towels are about the best thing. If you can keep the whole area warm and relaxed, things will go more easily. Don't rush it!!!!

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea: (make sure it says leaf or it is the wrong one) 6 cups a day 2 bags in each

Nipple stimulation: it is best to use a breast pump but if you don't have one manual will work as well.... 20 minutes at a time several times a day

Sex: as often as possible

Walking: do it every night as much as you can stand

Black or Blue cohosh: use only the recommended dose because too much can speed up the baby's heart

DON't use castor oil... it will only give you diahrea and pain

If you were further along you could try walking up hills and stairs, eating pineapples and hot curries and the rest, but it's too early and the baby's not ready yet.

Be patient and *sleep* as much as you can because in a few weeks you won't be able to.

Well i was told by a doctor that HEAVY intercourse helps. walking helps....but you've got to understand...your baby will come when he/she's ready not when you're ready and tired of being pregnant. Not to mention you've got to know that there can be risks into forcing your child to come to early. And i would suggest that you talk to your doctor about how you're feeling..GL to you and Congratulations

Evening primrose oil. Insert two capsules for night, it will help soften your cervix. Recomended by midwife, won't harm the baby. Look up online to find more info.

I hate to tell you this but the baby comes when the baby is ready. Somethings that do help is walking alot. Walk, walk and walk somemore. Also another thing that does help, is sex.
