I'm trying to sell my condo and a potential buyer has asked for some specifics on our electrical service.

I looked at the breaker box and the main breaker is a 100, does that mean we have 100amp service?

If you're in a Condo, you more then likely have a 100Amp Sub fed panel Inside your Unit, fed from a multi-gang meterbase (more then one Meter) Each meter should have a Breaker REAL Close by that will be the main feeder size to your unit, More than likely 100 amp as well.

First, you need to get with the power company to verify that your service entrance is rated for 200 amps, otherwise you are wasting your time. Second, that's about it, SE cable is always aluminum, copper would be too heavy, expensive and unflexible to work with. Even the line between your meter panel and service panel will be aluminum. The first is something you CANNOT do, it's up the power company. The second is something you probably shouldn't do if you are at all uncomfortable with electricity, and you WILL need a permit. Once the service entrance has been rated, swapping out the panels is actually fairly easy, but your location may not allow homeowners to do this type of electrical work.

The service size is stamped right onto that large gray panel which holds all of the circuit breakers. That large cover needs to be removed and inside is the data on that service.

Yes, if the main breaker says 100, then it is 100. Unless you have multiple service panel boxes, then add them together.
