I have been to Torrox many times, most of them with my children. I agree that there are not many things for children, but mine enjoyed a lot just on the beach and playing basketball in a small court next to the beach. The place we were in is called Laguna Beach and it has 3 swimming pools: one of them is indoors with warm water and then there are a big one and another one for children in the outside. There are tennis courts too; my children didn´t need anything else. We went there looking for relax and that´s what we got! There are many Germans, but you can hear English in many places too. It is not as touristic as Nerja, which is really near, but it is not so crowded either. Once we took our children to the caves in Nerja and spent the day there. The little villages on the mountains are nice too. And Málaga is only 50 kilometres far from Torrox. Almuñecar is a village which belongs to the province of Granada, but it´s just a few kilometres far from Nerja and there´s an Aquapark there and a parrot park too; very nice both of them.
I recommend Torrox as I have always had a nice time with my children. Hope you´ll have too!!

I agree that Nerja is nice. You will want to include Nerja in your day trips. Nerja is a place that the British spend holidays so English is spoken at many shops and restaurants.

Sorry, don't know much about Torrox, went through it several times, usually by bus and didn't get inspired to explore. I hope this doesn't discourage you going in. Germans can be nice. There's (or was anyway) an English language radio station nearby.

Be sure to go to Frigiliana, a mountain town above Nerja. A bus runs frequently from Nerja. There was a retired lawyer giving good walking tours. He was also a disk jockey on the radio station.

Torrox is very nice, there are German people there and lots of other nationalities. The area is quite flat, ok for a pushchair if you need one. The beach is wide and clean and relatively safe for kids and most bars have a children's menu. Take plenty of sun tan lotion with you and hats for the kids because you don't realise you are getting burnt, even if its overcast before mid day. Nerja is nice for a day out but the beach can be quite rocky and stony. I'm sure you will have a lovely time
