Maintaining a healthy diet is one. If you exercise more often, the cramps usually don't occur so much. If you end up getting cramps, try yoga! I started yoga about 6 months ago and my cramps never come back! It builds stamina, strength and flexibility. It also takes your mind off of it! We all know it hurts more when you are forced to curl up in a ball and think about it.

I've heard quinine tablets are good, i think you may need 2 go to the doctors for these I'm not sure, but you can always pop into your local health store and ask them if they have them. You also get quinine in tonic water.
Also make sure you drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated, sometimes cramps are caused if you are a bit dehydrated.
Eat a healthy balanced diet. bananas contain potassium which helps prevent cramps
Though if it's only during the night your getting these cramps it could be the way ur lying in bed or the way they baby's lying when your lying down (he/she could be lying on a nerve).
you can buy a maternity pillow which lies under your bump to take the weight off
when i got cramps i slept with a pillow between my legs and a pillow under my bump

You should try to do a bit of stretching before you go to bed. To stretch out your calves, first kneel down and then rest on your elbows and forearms. Stretch out one leg behind you and give your calf a good stretch for a minute, then do the other one.
My yoga teacher recommends this so hopefully it will work for you.

1. stretch your legs when you are laying down---point your toes straight so your foot is flat and on the same plane as your legs--- DO NOT stretch your legs by pointing your toes "UP".
2. put a bar of dial soap under the sheet by your feet. Hey, that's what my momma does.

you need to stretch. put one foot in front of the other and bend slowly
I think you should try to take more salt in your diet.. I've heard that works
there are things that you can buy in the chemist to help with cramping
