I recently purchased a game telling me that I need a nVidea 5700 graphics card (or similar) or better. I currently have a nVidea 5200 and I want to upgrade it. There are a ton of video cards out on the market and I really could use some help in choosing the right one.

I have a LCD monitor. I only game and surf the internet (no movies or video editing).

Can anybody make any recomendations?

Thanks for answering. Your help is greatly appreciated!

That means that your game requires at least a Direct X 9 card supporting Pixel Shader 2.0.

Your 5200 and the 5700 are both: Direct X 9 - Pixel Shader 2.0 cards, hence they will both work , and it's practically the same card 5700 is a wee bit faster.

Since you have the 5200 I guess you have an AGP slot.
If you get a new card I recommend this one:

Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 580MHZ 512MB 1.4GHZ 256BIT GDDR3 AGP -- Price $267 USD

If you have less cash go for this one:
GeForce 7600 GT AGP

improve the RAM first. you will ought to purchase the RAM that your motherboard's instruction manual shows that's going to be suitable with. the enterprise of RAM in simple terms approximately continuously would not situation too much.
