First of all term limits are stupid - all that does is give lobbyists more power and take power away from people to reelect good leaders and for leaders to gain the experience necessary to know what's going on to keep up with the lobbyists. Sometimes people repeat what they've heard without giving it any thought whatsoever which is why I addressed this first. Think people!

The best way to "uproot corruption" is to shine the light on them. Cockroaches run from light. That's a start but informing and gathering support from your fellow citizens is where it really gets going.

How many times have you heard someone whine about politics? How many times have you seen that same person walk door to door with a petition - explaining the situation and asking for support?

Pick a party (one of the major two since they are the only ones with any real power) and get active behind the scenes. Vote all the time but remember that voting alone is hardly a shining example of exemplary citizenship. It's only the beginning.

Get active in the party of your choice understanding that neither are perfect for any of us. It's like being in a relationship and accepting your partners shortcomings. Get over it and grow up!

Go to local party meetings and attend your Precinct Convention along with as many as you can get selected to. Write your party platform. Actively recruit candidates. Work on campaigns.

Politicians listen most to those who "brung 'em to the dance." Dance with them instead of armchair quarterbacking your life away. Educate yourself on the issues. Come to your own conclusions instead of listening and then agreeing with whatever is said.

Have the courage to stand up for your own beliefs. And have the courage to admit when you are wrong.

Contribute your time, your talent and your treasure. After spending the past 19 years doing all these things I've learned some very important lessons in the world of politics.

Lesson One: one good person doing the above negates all the money and power that most people 'think' wins the political battles and wars being waged. The last thing those who really run things want is for you to do the above. They would rather you remain confused and apathetic (pathetic) and let them continue with business as usual.

So the real question here is what are you going to do about it? There's a question worth posting on your mirror to see every morning.

I don't care what your views are. You'll probably change them along the way anyway. The point is: you're either completely satisfied with the status quo or you see room for improvement.

Either way if you like what you've read please copy this and pass it along to your fellow Americans.
