Their is a resturant that has a stricked policy about it's dress code. The policy states that women wear skirts with pantyhose.
The women got together and complained because the males wear shorts with bare legs.
Ownership has agreed and now all males that wear shorts must also wear pantyhose just as the women do
Is this legal? can they inforce this dress code?
90% of the males wear shorts back in the kitchen area do to the hot nature of the room.

I do not know if this is legal or not, however it should be.
Why should men not have to follow that same rules as the women do. After all we are talking about un-covered hairy legs around food. At least the women shave the hair off there legs.
I think if men want to wear shorts then they should have to shave there legs like the women do and they should have to wear pantyhose as well.

Where is this restaurant? I'll go there and get a job. Then, if what you say is true, then I'll start to wear pantyhose AND heels AND a cute little mini. We'll see how they react to THAT. Then, I'll bet you see a retraction of that rule. As far as pantyhose on the girls is concerned....love it, love it, love it. Nothing is sexier. Why do you think Hooters is so successful? Their food? Come on..... But pantyhose on guys is basically required crossdressing, and I don't know of ANY places that do that.

I would question the work conditions if it's so hot you "needed" to wear shorts in the kitchen. But then if you are in the kitchen the patrons would not see. Now are the girls required to wear pantyhose if they wear shorts?
If the dress code says no bare lags it is easier for the employer to enforce.
A great question for your local (state) labor board or commissioner.

If the company has a dress code and you violate it, you can (and in most cases) will be terminated. This includes requiring men to wear ties and women to wear hose. Both have been upheld in the legal system.

no they can't force a man to wear pantyhose
but they should force girls to wear pantyhose to work!

I guess if that is part of the "uniform" they can make you wear it. But, it seems to me it should be illegal cause they are basically making you wear women's undergarments. That's a lil weird and you should definitely complain to someone higher. Like corporate or the better business bureau.

Yes. It is a dress code. It can be enforced and if someone is not following it they can be fired.
It would be discrimination if the women were forced to wear hose, but men were allowed to go bare legged. They not have made it fair, and it is not required that men wear shorts, so they are not forcing them to do something here...

Aw but guys look so cute in pantyhose. LOL. I guess someone will have to be the guinea pig to challenge that rule. Otherwise, what the boss says, goes,if they want the job.
