Writing. Only today he'd be on the NY Times bestseller's list, have 3 or 4 shows already in syndication, won 6 or 7 Tony awards, 9 or 10 Oscar's for best script with another movie already in production and oh yeah...a pending lawsuit against Larry David (creator of "Seinfeld") for infringement as Shakespeare was the original author of "Much Ado About Nothing."

Great Question!
If Shakespeare was still alive, no doubt, he would have been writing his 1000th play. or his 5000th sonnet.
If he was still here, he would surely have been enriching our english language with more and more sweet and wonderful words.
If he was here, our oxford dictionary would have been 5 times bigger than what we have today.
If shakespeare was still here, we would have been so blessed to hear english language being played in its full swing and rhythm.
if Shakespeare was still here, i would have been there by his side, complaining why he made Iago so cruel, Othello so foolish and killed innocent Desdemona!!!

by the way
your question make me sing his sonnet
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day
Thou art more lovely and more temperate"

Thank you for this wonderful question
Long Live English literature!!!

Working as a professor at a small liberal arts university wondering why no one will publish his work.

Or working on the stage or in Hollywood writing jokes for the Tonight show or script ideas for soap operas.

ALIVE is obviously relative to many answerers here, but I suspect if HE was still VIABLE he'd be continuing to create works that SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many question, in confusion.
He'd find great humor in that, as I'm sure he does now.

Apart from boffing Gwenyth, I think he would spend his time between England, New York & LA working as a script writer, director & producer in stage & movies, I also see him at parties hanging out with Quentin Tarrentino & Spike Lee.

Probably writing screenplays, since it's the most accessible form of theater that we have. His plays weren't as highbrow as they seem. It's just that they were written in the language used at that time. And there are all kinds of inside jokes in them that even the poor would have gotten.

He'd be laying in a hospital bed with a ton of beeping gadgets pluged in to him & a bunch of press reporters hounding him.
