Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Backup

This is a built in Windows backup utility that is decent. You can back up to CD/DVD or to another hard drive.

Start in the wizard mode (default) and go from there.

Try Acronis True Image. It is a powerful backup utility. I use it for backing up my system partition and some important data. Syncback works really well for me. You can set it up to either backup or sync. They have a free version. It can be found at:
