I've been on the pill for 10 years and have determined it's contributing to my migraine headaches so i'm going off. I'm nervous about how my body will react after having been on for so long. Can you share some of your experiences of changes, effects, symptoms after stopping the pill? I'm not wanting to get pregnant and we will be using another method of birth control.

Your period may be irregular for couple months (mine was OK after 2 months), depending on how it was before going on the pill. Your skin may be bad for a month or two, until the hormones level off, and your chest might go down a cup size.
If you had problems with PMS before going on the pill, you might experience that again, but it's not too bad.
Everything is back to normal after a month or two, and you may lose couple pounds ( I lost 12 in 2 months, without dieting or changing my work out, which was sweet)
Make sure you use a reliable method of birth control if you do not want to get pregnant, and get Plan B if you are using a condom.

I am in the same boat, and the more I read about the pill, the
happier I am not to be on it anylonger. birth control pills reak
havoc on your system! Your body will be fine, dont worry
its the best thing to do. If you are interested, read
the fat flush plan, they mention a lot about birth control pills
in the book, how birth control makes you retain water, and
it reaks havoc on your liver as well. For me, my period was irregular
for about 3 months, that is the only side effect I experienced

good luck,

I've been on birth control for many years, but refuse to stop using them due to the PCOS. Birth control can cause your blood pressure to rise which is causing your headaches. But, you can expect for you to have irregular periods and increase in PMS if you were having a time with it before you went on BC's. You will also find that when you have a period on your own they are heavier and a little more painful.
They say you should periodically take a break from the BC's and then restart them. Now weather this is option for you or not is up to you and your OB/GYN. All medications have ramification on your system. But, I hope that this works for you. I suffer from migraines and have since I was little, so I know they are no fun.

Well it should help get rid of those headaches, and I hope you weren't planning to have any children, because my sister in law was on the pill as long as you, and when her & my brother were ready to finally have children , she couldn't and they blaimed the pill, for it...... now our family has no one to carry our "Family-Name"!! It's sad!! Hey I'm happy for you that your choosing not to take the pill anymore!!! I had so many side effects many years ago, when I was on them for the short time I was...... I dislike them very much, and highly recommend anything else to young women!!! Smile, your going to be feeling better in no time, I'll bet you will, without the pill, you know your body better than anyone, and if your bodies saying its the "Pill" than its the "Pill"!!!! Good-Luck to you!!!!
