I personally think it has got nothing to do with her race or religion. I think it is just jealousy from the other house guest as to her success and looks. Or just girls being girls. And yes I am a girl and we can all be bitchy. There is only one person in the house talking about race and that is Jermaine. Does anyone agree?. I also find her a bit annoying but beautiful, does anyone have ant opinion on the bullying in the house? Too much hype for me!!

I think the fact that everyone ignored it when shilpa called Jade and Jo WHITE TRASH yet jumped around and made a fuss when some people took the mick out of her accent is disgusting!!!
Yes jackiey calling her 'the indian' is wrong but its insulting not racist, as she couldn't pronounce her name and shilpa had a go at her for it. Dani called her a dog (again not racist) because she doesn't like her.
Mimmicking her accent? thats just ridiculous. if i mock a geordie is that racist? if a scot mocks my essex twang is that racist? no!

Sure, they don't like her and it is verging on bullying but at least wait till she complains about it for gods sake!
Its other people on the outside who are blowing this out of all proportion, people in india burning effigies when they haven't even seen the show just shows how damaging all these PC idiots attitudes are.

Yes I agree that it is more jealousy less race. If that was a simple average looking Indian actress they would not be bothered. There have been Asian women in Big Brother before and they have always got on with housemates whatever race they are. This is happening because she is very pretty, she is to good looking for Big Brother she has to much class. She should have never have come here. Dannielle is very threatened by her, because she was part of some beauty queen title and does not like seeing people who are miles better than her, obviously with Jade and Jo she has no competition. Now she is regretting what she has said about Shilpa because she fears the public reaction. She is still the same person so there is no point in her changing her behaviour towards her now, After all it was her who started the whole 'Shilpa is a dog' thing. Then there was Jo who was acting all good by telling Dannielle off for saying that about Shilpa and now she is the worst of the bunch. She looks like a man no offence!!

So yeah basicly its jealousy more. Dirk or Jermaine to win

'girls being girls' girls can be bitchy' it makes no difference. I'm a girl and I don't think I have ever been considered bitchy, it's negative and the only people it harms in the end are those that do it. I believe the three protagonists began their campaign against Shilpa because they feel threatened by her. Danielle obviously felt she was going to be the eye candy and possibly Jo thought the same of herself, whilst Jade Goody thinks she is the biggest celbrity the world ever produced. And then in goes Shilpa, beautiful, self possessed, and different. And a certain section of society will always latch onto 'different', partly from fear, lack of knowledge, the unknown and downright ignorance.
It began (as you put it)with ' girls being bitchy', but they have inserted the racist comments here and there, again it shows their ignorance. Jade thinks Indians live in shacks, Jo thinks they're all thin because they have poor hygiene and Danielle is an immature girl who idolises Jade and hangs on her every word and so is keen to impress her by saying the most spiteful things she can.
I don't think they even know they're doing it, it seems like second nature to all three of them, so I guess they behave like this on the outside and probably have few real friends. I think Ian has been saddened by the way he has seen Jo behaving and I'm curious to know why he hasn't said anything to her, he must realise the damage she's done her future prospects, if she ever had any.
A wonderful opportunity has been lost by them all, a chance to share and learn about each others different cultures, lifestyles, language, and instead India now thinks the UK is full of racists, and three silly non entities have ensured that's how they'll remain

I think that yes they are jealous about Shilpa, but their jealousy has sparked another level of bullying like Jo making fun of Shilpa's accent and asking her if she or Indians live in shacks or Jackie who constantly called her "the Indian". Racism is really down to a person's definition of it. I personally think none of the girls can handle the fact that Shilpa is Beautiful super rich and she can still afford to have manners and respect and remain respectable and down to earth even with all that going for her. I was really touched by her great respect of Ken in how she called him Uncle Ken and she gave him extra covering at night when he was cold. She's a sweet person who is also strong and to be really honest she's in a house with people who have strong personalities and she has to be strong. I don't think there can be too much hype on the bullying after I read in the papers how some teenage girl stabbed another girl in the eye with scissors. If we allow alittle drop of bullying by celebrities to go unpunished and all the children will think its ok. Well it's not and if India wants to push this matter foward then I support them.

I think Shilpa plays the 'race card' at every given opportunity. I believe the reason it seems most of the housemates are against her has nothing to do with her skin colour or cultural background, it is because next to Jackey she has got to be the MOST annoying person to have gone in there. She just winges about everything and goes bleating to Jermaine cos he is the only one who will listen to her.

I don't think they are bullying her over race. I am a woman and I also don't agree with the statement "we can all be bitchy". Not true. That aside, I don't even think they are jealous of her success and beauty, either. Yes, she is beautiful with an almost mathematically balanced face and a lovely body and she is successful in her own country.
No, I think they don't like her because they sense the pedestal she has placed herself upon. She does, indeed, believe she is better than them, yet, she will resort to the same behaviour. Example: For her, it was "funny" when she couldn't pronounce Dirk's name correctly but when Jacky couldn't say her name, Shilpa blew up at her.
She is someone who is "balanced" only when she is getting her way and gets steamed when she doesn't. Unfortunately, most people are blinded by beauty and will let despicable behaviour occur because they can't project such nastiness onto someone they see as nice to look at. I think she has been treated with a certain type of respect "back home" and now that she is around, let's face, some salt-of-the-earth type women, she can't handle it. Her behaviour is really quite manipulative. Bursting into tears at the drop of a hat - let's not forget she cried when the housemates were split up the first few days.
She is a grand manipulator and the other women see it.
In saying that, some of THEIR comments were quite childish but they should only be accused of "pack mentality" or group behaviour - not racism.
On a more personal note. When I was a child, I was bullied relentlessly for my accent - moving from North to South, my name was mis-pronounced and I was laughed at every single day I went to school. It was spookily like the treatment Shilpa is getting in the BB house. It had nothing to do with my race. It had to do with differences and not fitting in.
It is disgraceful that Shilpa is being held up as some kind of martyr for all the wrongs committed against Asians. She is not being treated badly because she is Indian, she is being treated badly because she has set herself apart from the other women.
Oh, and incidentally, find me one person who hasn't imitated someone elses accent? Let's say, Londoners speaking like Geordies or Americans or Irish or German or French or vice versa.....I think you get the idea.

Bullies pick on people's weaknesses whether it be that the person is fat, disabled, top of the class, best at sports, ugly etc....these women in Big Brother can't do that to Shilpa because they are jealous of her beauty but won't admit it so they are using her colour/culture to fuel their jealousy.

YES It is racist........ Unless you have suffered from racism it is hard to recognise it. Many ignorant people will also say this is OK and NOT racist, because society is generally full of covert prejudices which the individuals concerned do not even recognise themselves. I don't think Shilpa herself, coming form high class India has ever suffered prejudice, so she doesn't even understand what is happening herself! She keepa asking.. why ? why... I can explain to her in BLACK , BROWN and WHITE!
