A bit unoriginal but the best band ever is The Beatles, favourite song: In my Life
There's a website called www.planetsmostpopular.com with which you can nominate your fav songs and rate other peoples, good for the boredom ;-)

I'd pick John Prine, the old singer/songwriter. Some of his stuff is hilarious, either in the dry, subtle kind of way or sometimes in a goofy and unselfconscious way. Plus he can tell a hell of a story with a song, and when he gets into the sad stuff he can cut right to the bone. He just feels like someone you know, not someone you just listen to.

Kind of like Bob Dylan, he's got sort of a nasal voice and not a big vocal range, but he doesn't need it. When you write all your own material, you tend to write stuff you can sing just fine.:)

Alice in Chains, for 4 reasons:
Jerry Cantrell
Layne Staley
Mike Inez
Sean Kinney

Perfection.
But it'll never be the same without Layne.

Favourite artist is Johnny Cash.
Why? Because I've never heard a Johnny Cash song that I didn't like :) I've got over 500 of his songs, and I love every single one. That ain't bad!

I love Pearl Jam, they were the first band I ever liked, and they have always been my favourite since. I love Ed Vedder's voice, so many bands have tried to copy his sound in my opinion, btu have never come close to him. I've seen them three times live, and last year was second row, best experience EVER!! I was so close to my idol, he even looked at me, was a fantastic experience. They just rock!!

Alice Cooper - started in the late 60's...still putting out music and touring with a vengence. Has career longevity. I like the whole theatrical aspect of his shows and the shock rock.

NOFX.........They have a meaning. They have been successful since 1983 without going mainstream. They've successfully built a record label of their own. All while jammin' the same four chords.
