Absolutely. It seems that, based on what I see here, many people are under the impression this is only about Iraq. My opinion is that this reaches farther than many understand. Radical Islam is at war with the west. The west is not only America, but the UK, Germany, France, Russia and many other nations. The root of radical Islam is centered squarely in Iran as is the source of 98% of the terrorist acts of war being committed. One need only visit websites such as MEMRI.TV to hear the words spoken from the major players in this global drama. Those words are not some blog that is shaped by the personal viewpoint of a person. These are the actual words of the people who are shaping the future of the west as we speak.

If we do not take this as a life threatening movement, we will have a long time to ponder our inaction and inability to act decisively. How we are going about this leaves something to be desired in my opinion though.America is putting the fate of the Iraqi government ahead of it's own best interests by not allowing our military to do what it does best. If we appear weak in the eyes of the radicals and insurgents, prepare to see the death toll rise, prepare to see their numbers increase as recruitment has always risen sharply after America backs down or buries it's collective heads in the sand of denial.

They are here, in America now and have been for more than 20 years teaching the doctrines of hate that radical Islam holds as their core belief. And that is that America is the Great Satan and must be destroyed. If they succeed, it will come from within. We better stay tough, if not, we will suffer our regrets for a very long time.

If you apply "chaos" theory like in a chess game there could be multiple moves. Any instability in that region has the potential to push Israel to use its nuclear arsenal. After that the fate of the US may be at stake.
Also an expansionist Iran is not what the doctor recommends for the health of international relations.

I don't recall the North Viet Namesse flying planes into our buildings? Yet, terrorists have. If we do not win in Iraq, we embolden our enemies. They see it as the US not having the resolve to fight. Osama Bin Laden stated that the US has no stomach for blood. That when the going gets tough, so do the Americans. Sad really, he is right!

If so, we are just another doomed empire moving towards the enevitable. In some ways we are, like it or not, embarked on a series of disasterous confrontations with few good options... given the current leadership and its policies.
