I have read a few books on feeding and sleeping routines for infants. A few of them have suggested that you dream feed your infant between 10 and 11pm, without waking them up. I have tried this and it seems my four month old wakes up earlier now for a feeding. I have also read that you should actually wake them up at around that time to feed them, then put them right back down to bed.

Has anyone tried either of these techniques? My daughter is waking up a few times during the night now instead of just once a night like she used to and I just need to know if I'm doing something wrong.

Any advice would be helpful. Also what time is a good time to start her bedtime routine at each night. We recently started putting her to bed earlier, so could that be why she's waking up more?

Try reading some on the Ferber method. At four months you can begin breaking him of a middle of the night feeding. Mine all slept through the night by 6 months though there were a few nights a bit harder than others; it only took a few days before they stopped waking up at night.

If you child is on a growth spurt, she may wake up at night. I would not wake her up at night. Let her wake herself up. If she is taking a few ounces, I would say she is hungry, if she is only taking an ounce of less, I would say she is not hungry. When mine were that age, if they woke up in the night, I gave them water and after a few nights of water, they did not wake up any more.
At 4 months old, I would say any where between 7 and 9 is a good time for bed.

We used the dream feed with my son and it worked great. He didn't sleep through the night, but he definately slept a little longer and we were able to get more sleep and keep our sanity. Don't wake them up....they will get used to seeing you and that will make them wake up for company on their own. when you dream feed, they don't even know you are there.

Our son is in bed at 8:00 latest, when he's going through growth spurts he tends to poop out earlier like around 7ish.
