Ya! It has the possibility of Spyware, rather look for Adware and Viruses using FTP port to transmit information!
If you download songs, it is more likely that you got such type of malwares.
it is very easy to check for the viruses. (Viruses can easily be removed by DOS and network drives). More information on http://freetipsandtricks.blogspot.com(Check Complete virus information).
First Press Ctrl+Alt+Dll and then check out for running processes. if you find any culprit or unknown name. Try checking them at
http://virusscan.jotti.org
it searched your submitted file to more than 15 anitivirus and very good to use.
Another thing YOUTUBE CAN CAUSE 5-50 MB in one video easily. So beware, see important videos only ;).
Chatting Don't consume enough resources.
Windows Defender is good but not best. Try out best antispyware tools such as
AV, superantispyware and many more. Market is full of these products.
FIRST ONLINE SCAN YOUR COMPUTER, it is easy and best way.

That would depend on the stuff ON the web pages that you view. If there are a lot of video streams such as those on youtube, they would be the same size as if you downloaded the videos. Even though you just viewed them and didn't save or store them, the dsl connection will still automatically download them.

Text, on the other hand, is usually very small -- unless you're downloading a whole encyclopedia or something.

Note: there are controls to turn OFF videos/animation under tools>internet options>advanced in IE.

You should regularly check your total downloads once every 2-3 days from your download page. If you don't know how to do it, then contact your ISP. And there is a good possibility that someone else is sharing your account, having hacked it or something. So, I will advise you that use a good firewall like ZoneAlarm or Comodo (use only one), keep your Windows updated (provided you have got genuine Windows, which most Indians unfortunately don't have!), and disable your Universal Plug n' Play service. To do so, download "Unplug n' Pray" from the link given below. Also, don't chat with persons whom you don't know, because tracking one's IP address while chatting is way too easy.

One of the first applications built to find and remove adware and spyware, Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition's excellent reputation is well justified. The sky-blue, skinnable interface features five buttons. The first two, Status and Scan, lead to the core function of the application. These buttons initiate a scan of your files for adware components. After scanning is complete, the program presents a summary of results, followed by a list from which you select exactly which components to remove. Right-clicking an individual entry gives some information about the piece of suspected adware, though we would like more details.

Ad-Aware SE can alert you to more malignant forms of malware by separating items into critical and negligible categories. The third button, Ad-Watch, is nonfunctional in the Standard version. The fourth button, Plug-ins, shows you which Ad-Aware plug-ins are installed. The fifth leads to the help files.Ad-Aware SE does an excellent job of quickly finding and removing most adware and spyware components, although you will have to restart and rescan for a seriously infected machine. We were pleased to see an auto-update feature included with the program, keeping Ad-Aware up-to-date with the latest adware components. Ad-Aware SE should be part of your arsenal for keeping your machine free of adware and spyware components.

You overlook one thing: Graphics files are large. Especially Video. 2GB is nothing these days.
