You can attend job training programs at the community college or other trade school. Military is also an option. Many jobs also provide on the job training. Have you talked to a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. If not, give them a call. Sorry they didn't explain this to you earlier. EM- This is not a disability issue. It's a matter if he is qualified for a job or not. Edit- You need to take hold of your life. You are 29 years old and obviously not mentally retarded. You need to go to the community college and sign up for a program that interests you. What would you want to do? Move on with your life. Find a trade based program and move on from there. There are many trade jobs like welding and auto mechanics that do not require a diploma to enter in. Look for certificate programs instead of diploma ones. If you really wanted to, test for the GED while you are at it.

Only jobs you are going to get will be manual labor ones, but some pay good. The trash collector one was not meant for an insult, but even if it was, where I live, they make like $12 or more an hr.( NOT BAD ) (Pittsburgh , Pa. suburbs) You may be able to get in a factory too. PPG pays like $14 an hr with NO experience if there is one near you.(Pittsburgh Plate Glass) They have offices all over and factories all over U.S., not just in Pgh. One of their bigger plants is in Huntsville, Ala. If you want a sit on your butt job though, go to college or trade school of some sort.
You can get trainig cheap at Vo-Tech schools and financial aid is available at any community or actually ANY college.

Well you can try to apply for a job in a Kitchen some where but most days they don't want to hire you without a degree.
I would suggest to apply to college and get into the tuition assistance program, speak to your highschool counselor and tell her how broke you are, and can she help you apply for schools that offer housing ect..
This is the best solution for you.
Because you can not live off of that kind of salary for ever.
please think long term.
Best of luck
Meg

McDonalds may be a good place to start. They hire alot of HS students. You can start there and get experience and you can then venture out but you have to start at the bottom and work your way up
