If you like this person alot. It best to start off as friend. Get to know your friend well. The more you get to know him...then you'll know the real him. The reason I said friends first...suppose you start dating him then after while something happened in your relationship...sadly, you both have to break up. I am sure you dont want that or feel regret for dating him. So it best to get to know your friend as long as you can until your determine that he is the right person for you.
Tip: find out how he treat his mom. The way he treat his mom he will treat you the same. That advice was the best I've ever received from a mature friend

Just go out there and present your self the best way you can talk to guys get to know them know that you are single and in want of companion. What they want what you want it all goes in that catergory. But don't rush anything. Take your time. Meet 10 12 guys before you choose the one you want to date.

to answer your question, you cannot 'get' a boyfriend. don't be desperate. don't settle for the first guy who comes along. date around and see what kind of guy appeals to you, then when you find one, get some back issues of cosmo to help with research LOL
