I think as long as they're 21 or over it would be fine and it could be defined legally in terms of a contract. They could also set their own prices. What do you think?

This isn't my predicament...I just think there's a lot of willing slaves out there, and I want to purchase one to make me breakfast in the mornings...among other things

Sadly they do that in India. They borrow money to buy seed and then when their harvest fails the poor farmer has no option but to sell himself and his family into bondage. I hope that this link may make you change your mind about slavery being a good idea. http://www.indiatogether.org/2003/jul/hrt-bondage.htm

This sort of thing is also going on in Africa and even in the Caribbean (I refer to Haiti). Children are sold into slavery by desperate parents or become slaves through having no relatives to look after them.

Contracts like this are common between dominants and submissives. They are not legally enforcable because of the laws making slavery illegal.

But if both parties sign and it is worded carefully. They spell out what if any behaviors are excluded from the contract and monetary terms. They also specify whether the slave is a live in and if they have any days off during the contract period to persue personal matters.

A certain amount of money is deposited monthly into an account under the slave's name with a large lump sum to be added as a bonus for completing the contract at the end of the contract period.

For the wealthy this is often less risky and more economical than high priced call girls. The contract term is usually contingent upon a clean medical exam for both parties to ensure no venerial diseases are present. Since the contract is not enforcable in a court of law sometimes where trust is an issue the completion bonus is put into escrow with a neutral third pard who acts as an unbiased arbiter to arbitrate disputes should they arise.

I suppose (leaving aside the legal aspects which might arise) that most people would negotiate a price, wait for the money to be cleared in their bank account - and run away! Of course, the 'owner' could always insist on having them shackled to prevent absconding!! BTW, are you thinking of guaranteeing yourself a secure (forgive the pun) job that way? :- )

Slavery is illegal, period. You could work for someone as a housekeeper or a butler legally, and you might be considered a slave, but you can't be 'owned'.

If someone is willing to be a slave and its soley their choice without force, then why not? People are so quick to butt into peoples lives when noone is being hurt. If it hurts them, they either wouldnt be doing it or for some reason they like it. Their choice, not yours.

Slavery is, of course, illegal. What you're describing, though, sounds like paid employment, not slavery. Real slaves did not get paid.

Why would you want to be a slave?
who wants to have their freedom taken away?

I think Slave is the wrong terminology, how about housekeeper, that sounds better.
