Hell no!

My Resume would read like a novel!

Can't have that now can we?

I just put the vitals. Since I have worked in so many different fields, I usually add what is pertinent to the position and explain away the lapses in jobs using my kids as a reason. I like to stay home with them but when you gotta go to work, you gotta go...

Most parents understand... Most fresh meat college grads with pet fish... do not.

no because a resume is only supposed to be one page, if you list every job it would become too big, the problem with tailoring is that it shows a gap in your employment history, and the problem with just listing your last 4 or 5 jobs is that it may not include things that are relavent to the job you are applying for. I would personally try to tailor it a little more, if they ask at the interview what the gap is from, you could always tell them. If it shows no experience you may not get the interview in the first place.

Yes. Prospective employers are suspicious of any gaps in employment that are not explained or jobs that omitted from your resume or on the application for employment. Reason: You might be trying to hide something.

To shorten the resume, some people have grouped several short term employment into one item such as: "From July 2005 to September 2006: Worked as an intern with X Company, a temp with Y Company and a trainee with Z Company..."

This method is acceptable as you aren't really omit anything.

I would tailor it toward each job you're applying for. Employers want to know why they should hire you rather than someone else, so you need to show them what experience you have that directly applies to their job opening. If you leave some of your previous jobs out of your resume, also be prepared to account for any gaps in your employment history. Good luck in your job search!

they usually require a 5 yr work history. Some companies do back ground checks and verify, last job I applied for wanted exact 5 year history, month day year..what I did was added a separate attachment because my previous jobs had the experience required for the position I was applying for.Got the job.Good luck.

No. They may want to know about any holes in your history. Say if you go from a job you quit in 2001 to the next one beginning in 2004. You need to have an answer ready. Do a cover letter that highlights the experience necessary for the one you are seeking. Good luck. God bless.

I tailor my resume to the specific job. Plus, it may be hard to list all of your jobs on a one page resume.

I put all the jobs down because if there are gaps between employment, they're going to ask you what you were doing during that time. If you tell them and it's not on your resume, it's going to make you look like you are lying. Not to mention, most do background checks too -- previous employers are listed on them too.
