bankruptcy is not as bad as one might think. i went bankrupt 3 years ago, i'm a stay-at-home mom, and everybody wants to give me a credit card even though i have no income of my own! my husband has never co-signed for me, his name wasn't even on the application. my father-in-law on the other hand, had a failed business 9 years ago, makes $250000 a year and not even capital one would give him a credit card, and he's been responsible with his money since his business went under. So if your credit is really that bad, from personal experience, bankruptcy rebuildt my credit faster than doing things the honest way. My cellphone company, after 1 year of good payment history, had my deposit of $200 refunded, and i have 2 UNSECURED credit cards, which I've hardly used. Consider it.

Speak with some smaller loan companies. MOST will do a SECURED loan with most any kind of collatteral. Can use your car or computer or anything of value to secure it. Can even use stuff like televisions and riding lawn mowers. If you own a home, even if NOT pd. for yet, you can borrow against the equity in it.
