i stayed in both and i loved both. in montego bay we were in a better hotel so it was a lil nicer but negril was cool too.
montego bay is good cuz you get off the plain there and you dont really have a drive to the hotel. negril is like 3 hours but its a hella nice drive to see the area. it all looks the same and the people are great. if you want some BUD ,they will offer, get it from the bus driver at the airport on your trip to the hotel. rember NEVER pay what they ask for anything! i was told $100 and paid $20 for a suvineer, they try and rip you off.
so i guess it comes down to where you can get a better cheeper hotel do an all-inclusive trip bring lots of $ for tips.
were goin back for the 3rd time soon have fun!
PS. if you get the chance to THE RIVER WALK its great! and get an underwater camera here in the states there VERY expensive there.

You can choose either Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios. All of those locations are perfect for romantic getaways. I would however suggest Montego Bay because there is always something great happening in that section of the country. They don't call it the second city for nothing.

First what are you into? If your into alittle of this and that.or mix of things Ochi Rios is for you, restaurants are not plenty full and neither are parties, but if your into nature yup go there, the town is center'd around tourism but it may not look that way to you,at first bcause of a lack of stuff to do during the day,or night.but they do have the caribbeans biggest water falls, and Bob marley tours and rafting on the white river is also close in proximity. But as i said that part of the island is not set up for partiers, but more of a laid back spend your day at the beach falls or in the Mountains hiking biking or just hanging out with dolphines at the cove.
Montego bay, second city, tourist capital, much night life enterianment,At coral cliff as an entertainment area and Magarita ville wright across the street, more of a club vibes like feeling, but popular for tourist,go easy on the drinks, all the enterainment areas are on one road, bottom road or Gloucester avenue more noun as Montego bay's hip strip, that runs from KFC to sunset beach or dead end, lots of hotels restaurants, and shopping areas and all within 10-20 min, drive or walk, more shopping can be done at the Half Moon shopping center, beaches are also good,at Docters cave and Aquasol beach and enertainment area, also popular with locals.
Tours are available for river rafting and bird watching,or swamp safary on the great black river morass,in St Elizabeth.
Negril, gate way to some of the finest beaches in the country, fantastic sunsets, lots of entertianment, and alittle of natutre,at the royal palm reserve located in the morass, but Negril is were you want to be if you have party in your blood.
Also you can visit the light house at west end for stunning views ,try visiting Ricks cafe, you'll be amazed.
Now if your not into all of those areas above you can visit Portland the parish that can give you access to world famous blue mountain coffee, some of the most prestien and untouch rain forest in the island ,lots of water falls, rafting on the islands largest river 'Rio Grande',good beaches, even though some may be private, and if you ever tasted Jerk chicken thats were it originated from,"so what you think anout that?"
lots of history is associated also with the parish.
The south coast is also another place but they are even more quiet,so if you like fun stuff just do and All inclusive, and check with your agent for available tours that can give you every thing of every little aspect that your looking for,(Oh Negril is wonderfull and would be the best place to book one of the many rooms in a hotel on the island, but there's always going to be something that will be out of reach, but negril is more tight nit,and touristy in its every day activities),just go with and open mind.hope this help.
