I can't find the nasal aspirator, what can I use to clean my baby's nose out?

It's gross, but if you're desperate you can suck it out!

I had to do it once when my baby was horribly blocked up in the middle of the night and we couldn't find the aspirator. If you do it carefully you can avoid actually sucking down the snot and just get it moving so you can wipe it off...

Take a clean washcloth and run very warm water on it. By the time you get to the nose it will be cool....let the baby breath in the warmth off the water...it will break up some of the congestion inside.....wipe away any congestion ....and take a semi wet q tip and carefully clean out his nose....Make sure the qtip is not full of water....you want it slightly wet so it wont cause pain or rub the nose raw. It worked for my babies...i never really had to use the ball sucker thing!

Saline drops help loosen it so it will come out.....or you can put them in the bathroom while you run hot water in the shower and all the steam will also loosen it.

you can use a q-tip but be very careful and don't stick it too far up the nose.

Do you have a medicine dropper that you could "sacrifice" to this unsterile procedure? LOL!

Good luck!
